A Day in La Jolla

This was the last week my family would be together for 2 years. We snapped a quick picture or two for the memories. In case you didn’t know and haven’t heard me incessantly muttering about my baby brother, yeah, he’s the one standing right next to me. There isn’t much baby left in him. He is headed to Portugal on a mission.
The rest of us are just going to hang out and pick our…well…I think the picture is self explanatory…(boy do we still know how to fire my mom up) until Christmas of 2013 when he gets back. Go Brian, go!!

“Safari Park”

They renamed it! I’m not sure why, but it is the Wild Animal Park no more…maybe because there isn’t much wild left in the animals since they are in captivity?
How “wild” can worms really be, right? Should a wild animal park really have a compost exhibit? Should I rethink my pass purchases if worms were the highlight of the trip? How can lions and tigers be old hat?!
Thankfully, we went to enjoy family so worms or lions were inconsequential. It was the company that made the day.

America, America, God Shed His Grace On Thee…
The 4th of July is a GLORIOUS day!! I love that we get a day to celebrate our freedom and all of those who have died keeping our country free. It really is a HUGE deal! Sometimes I feel like many of us take it for granted. The words seem almost trite as they leave some lips. I would celebrate more often, but I don’t ever want to come off prideful or have anyone think I’m ever concerning myself with which country is better or worse. Most days I just have a huge, but quiet, inside my head, kind of celebration. I just LOVE America!! I have lived enough places in my life to know that I truly LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it here!! We are blessed!
So when the 4th rolls around every year, I love for everyone to be spangled to show their appreciation for their country. It’s on outside manifestation of the gratitude I feel for all of those soldiers out there defending today!
Our 4th took us from Coronado for a 5k run(Brian placed 36 out of almost 1,000, needless to say, he left me in the dust. I was in the 200s). to Old Poway Park for an Old Fashioned 4th – gunslingers included. Who doesn’t want to be a part of a good old fashioned train robber, some great band stand music…or enjoy a quilt museum?! Looking at the detail on those things make my fingers ache and I haven’t ever made a quilt.
It was fun bumping into familiar faces who helped make this 4th of July happen(I won’t mention names so as to not splatter people all over my blog). But their hard work didn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated!

I’m so glad my sister, Heidi, Shane and Colson could be here to celebrate with us!

By the end of the day, Gracie looked the way I felt. You might laugh, but it was the truth.

What a great day!

Good Morning, San Diego!

This is what happens when I wake Will up early in the morning for a date and have to start him up with a shot of Dr. Pepper. Just kidding, he was just messin’. When its a sultry 75 degrees at 7:30 in the morning we just can’t resist a good round of frisbee golf. What a fun double date! We chased frisbee golf with a yummy breakfast. Slowly we are finding the good, the bad and the ugly that is San Diego’s breakfast restaurants. Good food, good friends, good times!

Like a Fish

I finally found room to get Hudson into swim lessons and he has thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I had kind of put lesson off for awhile. I wanted him showing interest so they would be enjoyable and I wouldn’t feel like I was wasting money. This happens all too often with me. Either way, since our summer heat is just getting started, he should be able to enjoy his new found hobby for awhile longer.
