My counter has been getting a little cluttered lately so I figured I would organize a little and redo my desk  with a little padded stool.  We got this fun little guy from from my father-in-law when we were first married living in our awesome studio apartment in the major’s mansion in Provo.  Why is it so fun one might ask?  Because it does this…

It’s the desk that keeps on giving.  That’s right it has several leaves that fit in making it a spectacular table.  Thanksgivings used to be so fun on this little guy.  If my memory serves me correctly, we have sat more than 10 people around this desk comfortably.  I have a chair to go with it, but I ended up making that quick padded stool instead…no time for fanciness at the moment.  For the record, I know both pictures are terrible so you will just have to guess what color I actually painted the desk since I forgot to adjust my settings.

We found a fabulous restaurant the last time we were in Denver.  Tocabes!!  This Indian Fry Bread eatery was amazing.  Amazing to the tune of 4 days in a row, driving across Denver just to eat lunch.  Not to mention we always ordered extra fry bread on the way out to eat in the evening over Scrabble.  Pictured above are my two favorite sodas…tricky to find, but so worth it!

There was a point where I was worried that Will might try to open one in San Diego, but the desire faded.  Will has figured out how to recreate them and I once again find my tastebuds so happy and find myself ever thankful for his wonderful cooking abilities, which I am sure will result in an expanded waistline for me.

It was just bugging me.  So I covered it.  Super easy…and I love the fabric!  You never know.  I may just spend a little more time at the piano.

…or maybe just one.   So my kids are a little more rough on my furniture than I would like to admit.  I have had this ottoman for a couple of years now and it is beyond trashed.  Having it has sold me 100% on NEVER buying anything microfiber again.  I don’t care what the sales people say, microfiber is wretched!!  I won’t go into the reasons, but it’s a swear word at our house.  So I tore it apart and decided to recover it.  It’s not perfect, but I figured it wasn’t bad for a first try.  It was a quick afternoon project.  I should have pulled the fabric just a bit tighter, but I was worried I was putting too much stress on the fibers.  Lesson learned.

It’s summer and anything goes.  Man, I really should needlepoint that on a pillow.  Okay, so maybe not, but can you guess what the kids and I decided to make together?  That’s right…120 truffles!  We made oreo cream cheese, dark chocolate and dark chocolate with a mint shell.  Oh my, are my taste buds happy.  Believe it or not, the kids did all of the steps except for the final shell coat.  Now that is a recipe to keep close!
