‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

Posted under Annie, Christmas, family, Holidays, Hudson, kiddos, Winter No Comments

Grandma and Grandpa put in a call to the North Pole and we got 2 visitors Christmas Eve.  Apparently, Grandpa met Santa in his travels through Alaska during some military training.  The kids cleared off the naughty list just in time too.  Santa did return late after the children were tucked all snug in their beds to fill stockings and deliver presents.

Sledding Your Life Away…

Posted under Christmas, family, Holidays, Winter 2 Comments

Colorado must have known we were coming.  It dumped a foot of snow just a few days after we got here.  Those hills’ beckon call had us scrambling for snowsuits, gloves and mittens.  I find it hard to resist the sledding hills when the hills have such a thick layer of powder.

I’m not one for dumping tons of photos on the blog, but I couldn’t resist this time.

Everyone wanted to send Gracie down on her own, but I refused.  Considering her white snow outfit, I was sure we would lose her after the inevitable topple at the bottom.

My favorite comment of the day goes to Hudson as Annie was climbing on the sled with him.  ”You don’t need to be scared Annie.  Don’t worry, I’ve got you!”

Rudolph’s Revenge

Posted under Christmas, Holidays, Winter 1 Comment

I love cookies. I love cake.  I love food!  Basically, I LOVE to eat therefore I run!  With Christmas at my heals and my shin guards sitting lonely in my closet at home I decided Rudolph’s Revenge  along the South Platte River and through Hudson Gardens was the perfect answer to enjoying great food over the holidays and getting to spend some quality time with my dad!

I was worried that running at a mile above sea level and in 19 degree weather was going to have me falling over from lack of oxygen and going the way of the popcicle.  I had considered markering, “I’m one of those sea level sissies” on my shirt as a warning, but I hunkered down and found a groove instead.  I finished just a few seconds slower than my Arizona time and they gave me hot chocolate at the end, where I promtly stripped down(My mom didn’t let me out of the house until she bundled me tightly so that was all shed partially through the race and just past the finish line).  What a beautiful race and a wonderful day!  Thanks, Dad!!  I love you!

A hug is a great gift – one size fits all, and it’s easy to exchange.

May the Force Be With You

Posted under Annie, Christmas, family, Holidays, Hudson, kiddos No Comments

Our Christmas Disney trip was fabulous!  Just look at Will’s face.  Can you tell they reopened, Pirates of the Caribbean?!

Both Hudson and Annie got picked out of the crowd to be padowan!  For those of you who aren’t familiar with Disneyland, a Jedi comes out and picks a few kids out of the crowd to train at the Jedi Academy.  Darth Vader and Darth Maul then come out and the kids get to fight them.  Annie fought Darth Vader up on the stage and Hudson fought Darth Maul.  That girl had NO fear!

For those of you who steer clear of, It’s a Small World, on a regular basis may want to try it all gussied up for Christmas.  They mix in, Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells with, It’s a Small World so you don’t have to worry about it getting stuck in your head.

The castles and the parade were frosted over for the holidays so it made things feel a little more like Christmas!  I even picked up our family ornament this year from Disney…I know, I can be such a sucker sometimes!
