The Date That Wasn’t Meant To Be…

Posted under Dates, Things to Do in San Diego, Will 1 Comment

Plan #1  Pedaling around the lake with the breeze ruffling my hair sounded like a relaxing plan, especially with Will as company.  Maybe 100 yards around, Will braked while hearing a lovely kathunk, kathunking.  Noting an obvious problem and then hoisting his bike onto his shoulder we turn back for the car.  Not 10 seconds later we here a loud bang as Will’s tire tube explodes.  The bike ride was immediately terminated.

Plan #2  Frisbee golfing at Kit Carsen sounded fun.  I think this is around hole #4.  The recent rains brought that wonderful scent of Eucalyptus.  Too bad Will launched his favorite frisbee into the “protected habitat.”  Of course it just happened to be a limited edition so I’m thinking replacing it for him would prove nearly impossible.  Needless to say, that “Freeing the Frisbee” into the wild meant that frisbee golf was immediately terminated.

So we gave up and went and had lunch with Buzz…nothing a Jalapenos burrito couldn’t fix.  I’m just glad that it’s not about what you do, but who you’re with.  I love you Will!

Valentine’s in a Hat or Two…

Posted under Dates, Food, Things to Do in San Diego, Will No Comments

We enjoyed Valentine’s Day a little early and on Coronado Island this year.  Ironically, I bought Will a hat as one of his Valentine’s Day presents this year and as we wandered in and out of all the little shops along the beach, I bought him another hat for the occasion.  I didn’t mean for it to happen that way – it just did.  We did Candelas for dinner.  It’s a great restaurant as far as ambiance is concerned.  It’s right on the water and has a breathtaking view of the cityscape – especially for sunset.  The food left something to be desired, but that could be because I ordered a chicken entree at a seafood restaurant.  You seafood lovers out there will have to try it and let me know what you think.  The waiter was pretty efficient with his ipad so it just made ordering that much tougher after seeing all our different options.  I think Will found it quite entertaining though.

A Disney Daddy Daughter Date

Posted under Annie, Christmas, Dates, Holidays, Things to Do in San Diego, Will, Winter No Comments

Now that’s a mouthful for you!  Will actually did back to back fun days with both kids.  The day before he took Hudson to Legoland, he took Annie to Disneyland.  Annie wasn’t interested in the roller coasters this time either.  She just wanted to be with her daddy.

He’s Got a Thing for Legos

Posted under Dates, Hudson, Things to Do in San Diego, Will No Comments

With all the attention surrounding Gracie, we wanted to make sure the other two kids knew that we remembered them.  So Will took Hudson to Legoland for the day.  It was the perfect place for them to spend some quality father/son time.  Surprisingly enough, Hudson didn’t want to ride any of the roller coasters.  They spent close to 2 hours wandering around the park looking at the things that have been built by legos.  Hudson was fascinated by the lego cities and the lego factory.  This isn’t the first time he has been, but I think he can appreciate it more – now that he is older.  He has been diligently saving his money as well so he got to add a few boxes of Star Wars legos to his collection in the process.

Bonnie and Clyde or Just Plain Mafia…

Posted under Dates, Holidays, Random Thoughts, Things to Do in San Diego, Will, Winter 4 Comments

…or maybe Will is a Columbian drug lord.  He kind of looks like the guy that would be sitting in the shadows of a Spanish-styled parlor with a fat Cuban cigar.  The two of us look like we are ready to pull of an amazing diamond heist, right?  And yes, I know.  Don’t even get me started on who or what I look like.  So really we just wanted a picture together before Will’s Christmas party and we only got one shot with the timer.  Hudson managed to trip over my shoe running past us, while we were taking the picture, smacking his forehead on our slate floors.  Poor little guy was fine a bag of ice later and we only got one shot at the picture…so here we are.

Will and I enjoyed the party.  The food was good as always.  I always appreciate Spanikopita better when I’m not the one that has had to spend the time making it.  It was a quick cameo for us since I can’t leave Gracie for more than a couple of hours without feeling like I’m going to burst.  Thanks for the date Will.  Maybe we will plan a heist for next time…after all, diamonds are forever.
