The Mistle-Toes

There is something about the wind in my hair that I love.  I love being outside.  I love being active and I LOVE being with my family.  Smush all of that together with a bone chilling  20 degrees outside and you get A Christmas Carol Classic 5k.  Brian left me in the dust as always taking 3rd in his age group. Even though Hudson and I initially left my brother Casey in the dust, he quickly recovered and we didn’t see him again.  That’s probably due to him placing 15th in his age group.  Lungs burning and a bit tender, Hudson was a trooper and finished 16th in his age group.  Mind you he was racing 12 year olds.  Yes, Hudson and I stuck together, yes, I finished in the 100s with my placing so I won’t bore you with the details.  I sucked…sucked wind that is.  Man, sea level is for sissies and I officially am one.

Annie wasn’t feeling the 5k so she ran the Tiny Tim with my dad instead and managed to set a good steady pace.  In the beginning we saw kids flying past her left and right.  Steady as she goes, and undaunted she closed the gap and started passing everyone up.  We were screaming like crazy at the finish line for her.  She didn’t win the race, but talk about a proud momma moment.  Annie ran hard and did her best!  My heart is full.
