Pop Culture and then Some
So we listen to the radio and random CDs in the car when we go places. We also play a myriad of games, including I Spy, Rhyme with Me, I’m Thinking of an Animal, etc. I would say games take up 70% of the car time. But when the music is blaring, the songs stick to my kids’ brains like glue. Why is it that just a few words from those short minutes find there way into my kids’ brains. Seriously, it was hilarious and sobering all at the same time. Do you know what your singing about? Are these the choice words I want randomly popping into your head on a daily basis?!
Can you picture Annie’s sweet little voice belting this out as she and I are bouncing from store to store? This is the ONLY part of the song she knows. Catching me off guard, I laughed and then I shut it down.
Annie Girls don’t like boys girls like cars and money.
A few days later we are making dessert in the kitchen and I hear this:
I’m a Hex girl and I’m gonna put a hex on you. (Thanks Scooby Doo for that one. geesh!)
I admit this one was extremely funny only because Hudson was making his own PBJ in the kitchen. He has heard Will sing it, but I don’t think he has ever heard the actual song.

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly. I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.
And so it begins, finding the line/balance in pop culture. I don’t want my kids to be completely awkward. I don’t plan on banning the radio or CDs. The world is there and they will be exposed. Perhaps I just need to watch the radio a little more closely until they get a little older. I feel even guiltier for finding all of these situations funny when the happened…actually, I still find them at least chuckle worthy.

Sole Property of Daddy…
For the hundreth time…
me Annie, don’t wipe your mouth on the couch, go get a napkin or a tissue. That’s yucky!
Annie This isn’t your couch, it’s Daddy’s. He told me so for a long time.
me Annie, it’s my couch too.
Annie No it isn’t. The grass is yours. Daddy said so.
How did I end up with the grass? Does this mean I don’t have to wipe off or clean the couch anymore? I don’t think I want to stake claims on it now that I think about it. I’ll stay out here in the grass with Annie. Will, the blue couch is ALL yours!

10 Weeks and Counting
Through my pregnancies with Hudson and Annie I never really took any pictures. So the other day when my mom asked me if I even looked pregnant, I realized anyone outside of my little, life bubble has no idea what I look like. Oh and to my mother, I respond with a resounding, YES!…very pregnant! …and here’s the proof.
So this time around I let Will’s partner in crime, Jessica at Frevo Photo, have at me with a camera.
Here are a few from the shoot.
We just stayed around the house.
I only have 10 weeks left until she joins us so I thought we needed some proof that she was actually in there.

Whose Bringing the Mallows?
From time to time, I miss living in the mountains. I always feel so relaxed hiking and enjoying the quiet. We did a little camping this weekend and found the experience very refreshing. I have finally given into the fact that no matter how pansy it can be, sleeping on an air mattress just makes sleeping on rocks much more enjoyable so consider me a pansy. I think Will and I are used to the type of camping where you hike in with a week pack so comforts were always left behind to lighten the load. Now that we have our kids there isn’t really anything light about it so the more comfortable the better.
Exploring and acorn hunting kept the kids busy for a large amount of time. Have you ever wondered how many acorns a little boy can fit in his pockets? Yeah, I don’t have to wonder anymore.
I thought my family was okay with the camp food. Perhaps I was mistaken. And don’t worry, she really didn’t eat an acorn. Fun times were had because we had fabulous friends to share it with and a family that I love dearly.

Disney Delights
Now that the tourist season is over and life has calmed down a bit, we found some family time to spend at Disneyland. We keep finding little pockets of things to do. The Golden Horseshoe shoe was quite entertaining. I haven’t seen people with that kind of comedic timing in a really long time. With just over 2 months until the arrival of our baby, I think I slowed us down a bit – hence the shows. I seized any opportunity to prop my feet up. Pirates of the Caribbean and It’s a Small World were even more enjoyable than usual. Apparently, Hudson has grown a bit since we were here a few months ago. He discovered the Indian Jones ride in achieving those extra few inches and was blissful through out the day.
Annie was more interested in hugging and chatting it up with the princesses so we stopped to give hugs to Jasmine and Pocahontas. We have managed to steer clear of the princess area altogether, but I can feel the impending doom of that 2 hour line looming closer.
