It’s a Baby…
GIRL!!! We are all thrilled…except little Miss Annie. Perhaps I should have omitted all from the previous sentence. She has informed me she ONLY wants 3 brothers. Oops, we’ll blame that one on Will. And Will’s caught on a technicality. I’m not going to explain that one to the kids. Let the planning and decorating commence!

Not the Mozarts
Hudson and Annie have been going steady with piano lessons since mid-summer. I’ll get what I can take. Either way, Hudson has enjoyed attempts at composing his own songs and learning little duets on the side. This is a pretty basic duet, but one we enjoy playing together.

Off to School…Take II

The kids had their first day of school. Hudson headed off to Kindergarten and Annie went to preschool. Since the before school pictures were less than jolly, I figured a few during and after shots would make up for those sad little faces previously.

Truth be told, once I actually got them to school everything went great! You know, I love that feeling of learning, growing, progressing and becoming a better person. I must be obsessed. That may be the exact reason I enjoyed University so much, ended up teaching and then going back to University for a second round. I had half the paperwork filled out for a doctorate(round 3) when Will decided a Master’s of Engineering with an MBA might just kill us all off. It was then that we decided Master’s in our respective specialties would do for now. I digress, school allows you to do all of those things. I LOVE learning, I LOVE school and I want my kids to love it too! Here is to a fantastic year! Let the growing commence!

June Cleaver I am Not

Some of you might be laboring under the delusion that our house runs perfectly. Rest assured we get plenty of bumps and bruises. Let me ease your mind and assure you that our experience with the first day of school can best be described as comical. I should have anticipated Annie wanting to brush her teeth for 15 minutes. Of course, who would only brush for 2?! Why didn’t I account for that? Little did I know, making Hudson’s hair too “high” would cause such a melt down. Really, doesn’t the picture show the happiness our house exudes? It makes you want to bust into a verse of, We are a Happy Family, doesn’t it?

Ready for the understatement of the century? I was nearly jumping out of my skin last night. The kids were getting to go to school! We layed out the clothes and the backpacks. We made lunches and snacks. We thought we were ready to take on the 1st day of school. Like a chef with a new clever we were hoping for some major slicing and dicing. In the end I was the one that got served.

Like a Fish

I finally found room to get Hudson into swim lessons and he has thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I had kind of put lesson off for awhile. I wanted him showing interest so they would be enjoyable and I wouldn’t feel like I was wasting money. This happens all too often with me. Either way, since our summer heat is just getting started, he should be able to enjoy his new found hobby for awhile longer.
