Pop Pop Sizzle
I realized all too late Friday night that we had run out of popcorn. We are huge fans of it in our house. I usually buy the big 24 packs that seem to last forever so I never realize when we finally run out. Either way, I had both kids snuggled on the couch with pillows and blankets ready to watch a movie when I noticed the popcorn dilemma. My attempt at redeeming myself had me digging in my pantry for the old school popcorn bag, oil and salt. The popcorn didn’t take too long to pop and the constant shaking of the pan wasn’t even a bother. I actually loved the taste of it. I can’t help but wonder if that was due to the fact that things are always better when you know you have worked for them. This just may become a bit of a weekend tradition for us.

Chop, Chop
Super Scorcher!! That is what I’ve freely named this last week. Not only was it insanely hot, but it pushed me over the edge. I’m ready to chop my hair off. I have a rule. If I can’t get my hair fixed 3-4 times a week, it’s time to chop. The time has come! It’s been a long time in the making, but I have been having difficulty making up my mind about the style. I have it narrowed down to two styles. I was going to post pictures of the two I had in mind, but had second thoughts about exposing too much. Even though I love people’s opinions, I am feeling a little rebelious so who knows what I will look like in the end.

A Place to Call Her Own
Well, I’m pretty much finished with Annie’s room. It really wasn’t that big of a task, it just needed to get done. It seems to suit her for the time being. I refinished the dresser awhile back. It belonged to someone’s grandma or great aunt or something and I snatched it up painted it and added new hardware.
I’m still struggling to find a bed that I want, but the height of the mattress on the boxspring is actually a really good level for her right now. Until then, what you see is what she gets. I’m not concerned considering she sleeps out on the landing snuggled with Hudson most nights anyway. I think buying night lights might help that whole situation.
I was so excited when I got this decal with how well it matched Annie’s bedding.
I was actually a little worried about what to do with toys. I’m usually not a fan of toys in the room, but since California seems to be basement free state, my hands are tied. I figured the closet was the next best choice with the amount of space we have. Her dress-up trunk and book nook are all tucked away back there too. And there you have it…another thing checked off my never ending list! Next item…buy night light so Annie will actually sleep in her bedroom!

Wickedly Delicious!
I was first introduced to Wicked when Hudson was about 2 months old and I have been a fantatic ever since. Unfortunately, I have never been in a place when Wicked was being shown. I tried to buy tickets for Denver a few years back, but they sold out within the first 2 days or so. Saturday night just reinforced my love for San Diego by adding another great item onto my list. Will took me on a date to go see, Wicked. We went with a group of friends from church and had so much fun. Really, how can you not love a musical where you know every song? I did refrain from singing along…yes, I know it would have been in bad taste. The Dress Circle offered great seats so I thoroughly enjoyed the smoke blowing dragon, flying monkeys, the Sparkle of Oz and of course Elfaba. The singing and the music were well done. Of course Ga linda couldn’t quite compare to Kristin Chenoweth, but it was still great.
Will ended the night by taking me to Pink Berry…wickedly delicious. He got me there at 10:59 so I went blazing through the door in time to be their very last customer for the night. They seriously have the best frozen yogurt. Will, thanks for a great date!

Not Quite the Cupboard Under the Stairs
I walked up the stairs during quiet time and this sight met my eyes. All of my duvets, sheets, most towels and blankets were strewn about, but these two cuties were tucked away snugly. I’m thinking my linen closet is just really appealing. I didn’t have the heart to be upset. I had one of those fleeting thoughts of, “I used to do that…and if I was still that small, you might still find me there.”
They had a fun afternoon playing and afterward, I explained that the next time they chose to play in the linen closet they need to make neat piles of everything they take out. After all, there is no point in deluding myself into thinking they will never try to play in there again, right?! I think I’ll just embrace the inevitable for now.
