“Egg”cellent…Wait, No! “Egg”tremely Messy

Posted under family, Holidays, kiddos 6 Comments

imh_6188We dyed Easter eggs today.  The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves.  I must say that I think Annie had more fun after everything was over.  During quiet time she snuck out of her room and pulled the egg carton out.  I was enjoying a good book in my bedroom.   I didn’t realize she was out until I started smelling eggs.   I thought maybe I had left the fridge open…Oh wait, no that was Annie!  One by one she took each egg, squishing it in her hand; crumbling it into tiny pieces and then rubbing it on the floor.  And to think I was wondering why, “rotten egg” never hit it big with Yankee Candles.  I thought about posting the picture of the little stinker and the aftermath that was my kitchen floor, but I am one who enjoys order over chaos so I chose the “before” picture instead.

The Peacegiver

Posted under Random Thoughts 2 Comments

peacegiver

I’m not one to peddle things or tell people what they should and shouldn’t read…or do, for that matter.  I am so excited for Book Club this month.  We are reading, “The Peacegiver,”  written by James L. Ferrell(The prologue is wonderful).  It is a very quick read.  This week has seemed a good week to pick it back up again, with General Conference rolling in.  There is a story in the beginning of the book concerning David from the Old Testament and a women named Abigail.  Abigail comes to right the wrong for her husband and in the process keeps both her husband and David from committing sin after tempers flair.

The following are things I noted from the first part of the book and are going into my brain as, “Thoughts sprinkled with Jessica’s brain juice, waiting for metacognition and processing…spiritually speaking.”

1.  Being sinned against potentially provokes more sin.

2.  We sin when our hearts are sinful no matter what we do on the surface.

3.  Christ helps us avoid being victims.

4.  If we cannot forgive, we are telling Christ that his atonement isn’t good enough.  Let it go!

5.  Is forgiveness for the one forgiving or the one being forgiven?…both?!

I’m not going to go into depth as to what I was thinking or the explanations behind my sentences.  If you are wondering about my train of thought… read the book.  I guess I’m just curious as to what others think.

Catching the Moment

I did Annie’s hair today and got a little side-tracked while I was chatting with her…Yes, Annie and I CHAT!

imh_6150Anyway, I got a little carried away with the spray and ended up with a good, old-fashioned, Texas boufant.  How could I not have fun with that?!imh_6151

Then I started thinking about how grateful I am to be here to catch these little moments with my kiddlets.  Annie’s first year of life found me teaching 6th grade.  I loved what I did, but longed to be home with my family.  Thanks to Will, that is now all possible…I’m so spoiled.  Thank-you, Will!!

Thinking back to Annie’s first year of life, I wasn’t there for much of the time to capture those little moments with her or Hudson.  Lucky for me, we have great friends who captured my children and made a great DVD so I can remember how much fun they had with their “other” family.

All those little Annisms remind me how much I just love being a mom, regardless of the “big hair” I give my daughter.

You can tell at this point she was bored with me taking pictures.

Dates, Dates, Dates

Posted under Dates No Comments

We have been enjoying ourselves in San Diego.  We definitely love that we get to continue to go out on the weekend.  It’s amazing how much dates can fortify a relationship.  And yes, here is another date pictures of me standing by myself.  My date is the handsome guy behind the camera.

Several Saturday nights have found us at Balboa Park.  It is such a great place.  Whether you are looking for a museum,a ride on the trolley, lawn bowling, a bistro, the ballet or just a nice walk in the park, this place seems to have it all.  We ran into this guy the last time we were there.  I must say, the digeridoo was very entertaining.

Apparently, the horses enjoyed the show too!  And I thought you could only find these guys in Central Park!
