This One’s For You, Papa!

Posted under Hudson 5 Comments

Hudson pulls me into the living room yesterday and shows me a comb sitting on a block.  He cocks his head sideways and looks up at me saying, “Mom, do you know what this is?”  I tell him that it’s a comb and he shakes his head at me.

“Mom, it’s a lever!  Look!” He places another block carefully on top of the comb then launches it across the room.
Then this morning he wanders into my room and asks, “Mom do you think you could help me make a pulley?” He then proceeds to draw how he wants to build it in the air with his finger. I kind of just stared at him. Annie then tugs on my robe and looks up and with a very informing tone and says, “Pulley Mom, Hudson’s Pulley.”
I’m chalking these comments up to the fact that his father is an engineer and Papa (one of his grandpa’s) is an AP Physic teacher…it must be in the genes.

Having a Sand-sational Time

Posted under Beach 3 Comments

We took a trip to the beach a week or so ago with some friends.

It’s always nice to get away from it all…even if it is only for a day!

Bored Board

Posted under The randomness that is my life 6 Comments

Yesterday afternoon my entire family fell asleep around 3:00 and I was left by myself.  As a general rule, I don’t do well doing nothing for long so randomly I decided that I wasn’t a fan of the pen, marker and pencil drawings and scribble on the top of Hudson’s train table.  I’ve never been much of an artist, but I love to pretend and wish.  Will woke up to find me sitting in my vanity, cross-legged on the floor with a paintbrush humming….attempting to find the little artist inside me that wants so desperately to have talent.

The great thing about paint is that if you don’t like it you can just paint over it.  I also figured that in the kids room, it will probably eventually get wrecked anyway so why not?  I still have a little detail to do around windows and such, but other than that, I think I’m officially done with my Sunday afternoon, “bored, board.”

Stickers…Anyone?!

Posted under Hudson 2 Comments

I’m glad to see that even though I see Hudson growing up before my eyes, he still has a little side of him that breaks free every so often(In his defense, if I see things getting too monotonous, I tend to break free as well).  This time around it came in the fashion of stickers.  At least they were only on him this time and not on furniture.  Last time this happened I was finding stickers in random spots around the house for 2 weeks.  I’m guessing that even now, I missed a few.

I couldn’t help but notice how neatly and evenly spaced the stickers on his arms were.  Is this Will’s organizational OCD coming out?

Who Wants Banana Bread?

Posted under Annie 1 Comment

You would think we had taken the kids to the ice-capades with the way Annie was skating around my kitchen in mini-loaf pans.  Be warned if you get any banana bread from me anytime soon.  Just kidding, I’ll wash them first…just hope she doesn’t play in them without my knowledge.  A little toe jam never hurt anyone, right?
