The Magic of Chalk

Posted under kiddos 8 Comments

With the fabulous So Cal climate chalk has very quickly become a favorite.  As a result Hudson has become quite the tic-tac-toester.  It’s a cat’s game with him everytime and believe me…I don’t go easy on him.  He has taken to writing the alphabet and writing every word he knows how to spell over and over.  Needless to say the patio is sporting a colorful “the, and, it , play” rug.  This morning after about 25 grueling tic-tac-toe games Hudson makes up a new game where I draw bubbles and he draws L-shaped guns to pop my bubbles.  I proceed to draw bubbles everywhere and he follows behind me making shooting noises to accompany his Ls.  At this point I start varying my bubble shape and draw one that is fairly small.  He looks at the bubble and then to me and says,  ”Gee mom, I need a magnifying glass to see that one.”  He then draws a magnifying glass and then a little gun and bursts my bubble.  Oh the magic of chalk.

Say Cheese!

We had a blast this last weekend taking family pictures with some friends.  The Rands were such great sports following us around as I kept changing my mind about backgrounds.  We got some great shots.  I had forgotten what a great task it is to harness both Hudson and Annie.  Those of you with children numbering above two…props to you if you ever obtain a picture where everyone is looking and smiling at the same time.  The wonderful thing about the pictures we do have is the character they capture.  So accurate are the snapshots of Hudson and Annie captured in their element.  I love my little family!!

It’s an Earthquake, It’s a Flood, No It’s The Blattmans!!

Thanks to Target having backpacks on sale for $2.84 our Family Home Evening this week was on being prepared.  Both of the kids got backpacks and we went on a hunt around the house finding things to fill them.  Granted we could only put in enough for them to be able to carry so the hunt was short.  Following the hunt we had a little practice drill where we would call out disasters and Hudson and Annie would grab their backpacks and run for the door.  Family Home Evening then ended with Hudson giving the closing prayer giving thanks for the floods and the earthquakes.  We just hope we didn’t mess up the world’s karma.

To Spite a Mommy

Posted under kiddos 11 Comments

I should have knocked on wood after publishing about Hudson and his hair.  This afternoon he walked into the kitchen with a huge grin and scissors and said, “Look Mom, I cut my hair just like when you do it.”  I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry.  Just look at the pictures.

Of course I couldn’t help looking a little forelorn as I had to shave his head on the shortest setting.  Who ever uses the 1/2 setting.  I didn’t even know that one existed.

Poor Hudson saw himself in the mirror and asked how many hairs I cut.  He wanted to know why I cut all of his hair off.  I told him I had cut them all.  He then asked how many he had left.  I told him I only cut them really short so he still had the same amount.  He was good with this answer.

I guess my mornings will be easier with only having to do Annie’s hair…(knock on wood.)

Will Replacements

Posted under Dates, Will 5 Comments

Every time I go on dates or other excursions with Will I find that he is never in the pictures.  As a result I tend to have the urge to pose with other random things.  I’m starting to wonder if it might be some sort of disorder.  The above are merely two evidences of the contiunously mounting piles of photos…
